For over 1400 years the Silk Road trading route carried goods to and from the Eastern and Western Worlds. With it also came cooking cultures, which had a huge influence on the cuisines of the Five 'Stans. A true melting pot incorporating Turkish, Russian and Chinese culinary ideas and resulting in something completely original. Using many regional grains and wheat flour to create noodles, popular dishes include Pilov or Plof and Paklama, a local version of baklava.
